Million Minis: Canoptek Circle Macrocytes
Heading to the Tomb World to try out some batch painting.
I’m saving working on my Seraphon spearhead for painting time with my daughter. But, if I’m going to hit 100 minis painted by May, I’ll need to paint at other times, too. And for that, I’m heading to the 41st Millennium, and Kill Team. I was seduced into the game by the Tomb World boxed set, which reminded me just enough of the beloved Space Hulk of my youth to make me splash some cash on it. The fact that my friendly local game store had a copy helped.
I warmed up on the standard necrons and scarabs, and then moved on to the Tomb Crawlers:

Tomb Crawler work in progress.
With those done, there’s just the Macrocyte Warriors between and the Geomancer. Happily, they look like a good bet for an experiment in batch painting. Here they are primed and ready to go:

It turns out that these are a more comfortable size to work with for my aging eyes than those fiddly wee necrons, and I found myself making good progress quickly:

I'm pretty happy with how these are coming along. I’m leading the side cover stop last, because I want to experiment with coloured washes over metallics to make the roles of each macrocyte clear. But, once done, I should have got all five done in a few hours. This is exactly the pace I need to start hitting…
Tesseract Glow-up

Oh, as an aside. Citadel’s Tessaract Glow is so much easier to work with if you drop a couple of steel balls in the battle to make it easier to mix up. I went for the Army Painter ones, and they’ve been fine.
